The MCM Expo - Machester Comic-Con
Yesterday was a major geek-fest. After buying tickets last minute on Friday, Gary and I met up with our friend Matt early on Saturday morning, and headed off to Manchester Central to Manchester Comic-Con. I knew that there would be some Cosplay happening, so obviously took my camera. We all had a fantastic time, and I bought some cool artwork (though not sure where I'm going to put it). Anyway, there isn't much I can tell you, that isn't in the pictures......enjoy!

Lancashire Science Festival
Well, things have been manic here for the last week. My alter-ego has been taking up a LOT of my time! However, last weekend I did manage to make some time for a Mum and son day with Cas. We went to the Lancashire Science Festival at the University of Central Lancashire (my alter-ego's second home).
It was a great day, well organised and the presentations were interesting and entertaining. We learnt about tiny creatures that do horrible things to you, about the Mulitverse theory and Superstrings, about how magic and science can sometimes look like the same thing, and the plausibility of superpowers!!
The Science of Superheroes talk was definitely the highlight of the day. Matt presented well, and his obvious passion for both the comic book heroes and the science made his talk all the more engaging. Matt even had a replica Ironman helmet, with working face-recognition cameras!! The kids in audience (me included) were very impressed. As part of his talk, Matt had made some trophies, these were awarded to the child that asked the "best question". Over the three days, three children were presented with one of those trophies. Cas was one of them! He was so giddy! His question - "Would it ever be possible for humans to evolve invisibility, and if so how long would it take?" He surprised even me! I was (AM) very proud of my son.

We are both eagerly awaiting the next Lancashire Science Festival in 2014.

After the talks we headed on to the show floor to have a look at the exhibits. The festival was very popular, and the show floor was busy, but thanks to "good connections" Cas and his friend still managed to get to race the robots!
Cas also got to have a play with the Lego Mindstorms robots! ;)
